What information we collect

GhanaHub collects minimal information to provide our services:

• Usage preferences — your selected language, country, theme (dark/light), and notification settings. These are stored locally on your device only.
• Queries you type — when you use the AI Chat or live data features, your input is sent to the Anthropic API to generate a response. We do not store these queries on our servers.
• Cookie consent choice — whether you accepted or declined cookies, stored in your browser's local storage.
• Anonymous analytics — if enabled, we may collect page view counts and general usage patterns (no personally identifiable information). This helps us improve the service.

We do not collect: your name, email address, phone number, financial information, or any account credentials. GhanaHub has no login or registration system.

How we use your information

We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:

• To deliver the service — your preferences are used to personalise your dashboard (e.g. showing your saved currency, preferred news category).
• To power live features — queries sent to the AI Chat and live data tools are forwarded to the Anthropic API to generate responses. These are not stored by us after processing.
• To improve GhanaHub — anonymous usage analytics (e.g. which tabs are most used) help us decide what to build next.
• To remember your cookie preference — so we don't show the consent banner on every visit.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies & local storage

GhanaHub uses browser localStorage (not traditional cookies) to save your preferences on your own device. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly use a feature that requires an API call.

Items stored in your browser include:

• Theme preference (light / dark)
• Selected country and language
• News category preference
• Cookie consent decision
• Bank downtime reports you've submitted

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for ghanaahub.com. If you decline cookies, only essential functionality preferences are stored.

We may use third-party analytics (e.g. Google Analytics) if enabled, which may set its own cookies. You can opt out of analytics via your browser or by declining cookies on our consent banner.

Third-party services

GhanaHub relies on the following third-party services to function:

• Anthropic Claude API — powers live exchange rates, news summaries, fuel prices, and the AI Chat. When you use these features, your query is sent to Anthropic's servers. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• SportRadar — provides football scores and fixture data. No personal data is shared with SportRadar.
• Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log font requests. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Chart.js CDN (jsDelivr) — used for rate history charts. No personal data is shared.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We recommend reviewing their policies directly.

Data storage & security

The majority of GhanaHub's data storage happens on your own device via browser localStorage. We do not operate a database that stores your personal information.

Where data is transmitted (e.g. to the Anthropic API), it is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. We do not log or retain API query content on our servers.

No system is 100% secure. If you believe there has been a security issue, please contact us immediately at the address below.

Your rights under Ghana law

Under the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843), you have the following rights:

• Right of access — you can request to know what personal data we hold about you.
• Right to correction — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Right to deletion — you can ask us to delete your data. Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can also delete it yourself by clearing site data in your browser.
• Right to object — you can object to how we process your data.
• Right to withdraw consent — you can withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser data for this site.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days. You may also raise a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) Ghana at dataprotection.gov.gh.

Children's privacy

GhanaHub is a general information service and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of GhanaHub after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Significant changes will be highlighted on the GhanaHub homepage.
